Concilio is seeking input from the Latino community in Philadelphia for two aspects of September’s Puerto Rican Festival – and deadlines are approaching!  The theme for this year’s festival is “Our Journey: from Puerto Rico to Philadelphia/Nuestra Trayectoria: de Puerto Rica a Philadelphia.”

Poster Contest

First, Concilio and the Puerto Rican Festival Planning Committee are seeking submissions for the 2015 Puerto Rican Festival Poster Contest. Youth ages 14-24 are invited to submit art on any medium that visually represents the festival’s 2015 theme. The top three entries will be awarded prizes during the festival’s closing ceremony, and the winning entry will be used as the cover of the 2015 Puerto Rican Festival Commemorative Yearbook.

Gala Award Nominations

Concilio is also  soliciting nominations from the public to recognize deserving members of the community to be recognized at the Festival’s Gala.

Nominations are requested for the following awards: Citizen of the Year; Lifetime Achievement Award (Latino over 60 years of age); Community Service Award; Latino Youth Award (14-25 years of age)
