Becoming a Foster Parent

Sometimes unfortunate circumstances cause a child to be removed from his/her home and placed in Foster Care. Concilio recruits foster parents with warm hearts and loving homes to provide temporary care to foster children. A select team of dedicated foster care workers strive to reunite them with their natural families or facilitate adoption.

Concilio is committed to providing great quality services and bares a vast knowledge of all aspects of the adoption process. Concilio possesses great integrity, dignity, and most of all, it's compassionate, friendly, and supportive staff is available to answer all of your questions and support you through the adoption process.

Concilio is a licensed non-profit agency in the state of Pennsylvania. Our services are free of charge and all applicants are welcome, regardless of race, religion, marital status, age, or sexual orientation. Concilio is only able to provide services for adoptive families in Pennsylvania.

Basic Requirements

The prospective foster/adoptive parents may be single or married and must:

• Be at least 21 years of age, financially stable, and a responsible mature adult

• Share information regarding their background and lifestyle

• Provide relative and non-relative references

• Agree to home study which includes visits with all household members

• Allow staff to complete a criminal history background check, FBI and child abuse check on all household members 14 years and older

• Provide last physical examination for all household members 14 years and over

• Attend 24 hours of pre-service trainings and in-service monthly training

• Home must pass agency and state inspection requirements and home must have adequate bedroom space for a foster child

• Have reliable transportation and the flexibility to transport foster children to imporrtant appointments (i.e. medical appointments, biological family visits)

Requisitos Básicos

Los futuros padres de crianza / adoptivos pueden ser solteros o casados ​​y deben:

• Tener por lo menos 21 años de edad, financieramente estable, y ser un adulto maduro y responsable

• Compartir información con respecto a sus antecedentes y estilo de vida

• Proporcionar referencias familiares y no familiares

• Estar de acuerdo en estudio en el hogar que incluye visitas y la participación de todos los miembros del hogar

• Permitir que Concilio complete una revisión de antecedentes penales, el FBI y de abuso de menores en todos los miembros de la familia que tienen 14 años y más

• Proporcionar último examen físico de todos los miembros del hogar de 14 años y más

• Asistir a las 24 horas de formación inicial y la formación en servicio mensual
