Puerto Rican Day Parade

September 30, 2012

12:00 PM to 5:00 PM
Benjamin Franklin Parkway in Philadelphia's Center City

Philadelphia’s Puerto Rican Day Parade is the “Crown Jewel” of the Puerto Rican Festival. It is one of the first ethnic parades televised in Philadelphia by Channel 6 ABC WPVI-TV. Diego Castellanos has traditionally hosted the televised portion of the parade, which allows an additional 80,000 viewers to tune in for a display of cultural pride. Youth groups, community organizations, schools, corporate sponsors, and many others across the tri-state region participate in making this parade a true showcase of Puerto Rican and Latino Culture. Dignitaries and former Grand Marshals include: Pennsylvania Governor Edward G. Rendell, Secretary of State Pedro Cortes, Braulio Castillo, Jr., former Mayor John F. Street, current Mayor Michael Nutter, Barrio Boyz, Willie Colon, Erik Estrada, Tito Puente, Danny Rivera, Geraldo Rivera, La India, Charlie Cruz, Lalo Rodriguez and many others.
